Child Law
Uplifting the Rights of Children. One Case at a Time.
Children are not just “small adults” – they are individuals with unique rights, voices, and vulnerabilities. At Muhendaran Sri, we are proud to be one of the few law firms in Malaysia with a dedicated focus on child rights law and protection.
From matrimonial and family disputes, access to sibling claims, bullying in schools, institutional accountability and child welfare cases to sexual offences involving minors, we approach each matter with deep care and trauma-informed practice. We work closely with parents, NGOs, and coalitions to ensure that children’s voices are heard in the legal system — and that their rights are not just recognised, but realised.
Our Child Rights Legal Services:
- Child Custody, Guardianship & Welfare Applications We represent parents and guardians in custody, access, and welfare matters, always prioritising the best interest of the child.
- Child Sexual Offence & Abuse Cases We act for survivors and in select defence cases involving complex family dynamics, with sensitivity and expertise.
- Legal Representation for Minors We provide legal advice and representation for children in criminal and civil matters, as well as children battling and institutional accountability in schools — ensuring their right to due process and support.
- Public Interest & Strategic Litigation We work with national child rights bodies to challenge laws and practices that harm children, and have helped shape policy at the highest levels.
- Education, Training & Law Reform We regularly conduct training for lawyers, NGOs, and government agencies on children’s rights under Malaysian and international law.
Recognised Leadership:
- Partner Srividhya Ganapathy is a national leader in child law and co-founder of the CRIB Foundation. She serves on key national committees, including the 2025 Technical Committee for developing Malaysia’s special guidelines for handling sexual offences involving children.
